The Balance and the Pens, Mental Exercise

Today Briquinex gives you a balance and nine pens, which are identical in shape, size, weight. The only difference is that one of the pens is slightly lighter than the rest. The mental exercise consists in finding the lighter pen with only two weighings. How will you solve this exercise?
