Cartesian Questions to Predict Consequences of Decision Making

Cartesian Questions are a set of 4 questions and supposedly were developed by Rene Descartes. He was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist.

He is known among other for Cartesian coordinates and the saying: "Cogito, ergo sum" = "I think, therefore I am"

This form of questioning is Used by coaches and Nlp Practionners.

Their basic form is something like this:

  • What will happen if I do this?
  • What will happen if I don’t do this?
  • What won’t happen if I do this?
  • What won’t happen if I don’t do this?

If you really want to make better decisions on the long term I recommend using the ACORI Model to Improve your Decision Making and Anticipate Consequences.
