How to make good decisions and set successful goals?

SMEAC is an acronym that stands for Situation, Mission, Execution, Administration, and Communications. 

It is a planning and organizational tool used in military , emergency responses and business world for project management and goal setting. It ensures clear and effective choices, decision-making and objectives formulation.

  1. Situation: This step involves evaluating the current state of the situation, understanding the context and gathering information to inform decision-making.

  1. Administration: This step involves organizing the administrative and logistic support required to achieve the goal.

Practical application

 the SMEAC method can be used to plan and execute a marketing campaign. For example:

In the "Situation" step, the team would evaluate the current market and identify potential target audiences. In the "Mission" step, the team would define the campaign's goal and objectives. 

In the "Execution" step, the team would determine the specific steps and resources required to execute the campaign, such as creating a marketing plan, designing graphics, and choosing a media mix.

 In the "Administration" step, the team would plan and organize the budget, timeline, and staffing required to support the campaign. 

In the "Communications" step, the team would establish clear communication channels to ensure everyone is informed and on the same page throughout the process.


The origins of SMEAC can be traced back to the military, where it was used to ensure clear and effective communication among various military units and to coordinate complex operations. The SMEAC method has since been adopted by other organizations for its effectiveness in clearly outlining the goals, strategies, and communication plans for a given task or project.

RACI: This method stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed, and is used to define roles and responsibilities in a project.

SMART Goals: This is a popular goal setting technique that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Gantt Charts: This is a visual tool used to represent a project timeline, with tasks and dependencies clearly outlined.

SWOT Analysis: This is a method used to identify and analyze Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats in a project or organization.

Lean Six Sigma: This is a combination of two methodologies, Lean and Six Sigma, used to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and improve efficiency.
