Fractions Definitions
A fraction is a numerical quantity that represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts. It consists of two numbers separated by a horizontal or diagonal line.
The number above the line is called the numerator, and the number below the line is called the denominator.
Fractions Overview
Fractions are commonly used to represent portions of objects or quantities. They can be proper fractions (where the numerator is less than the denominator), improper fractions (where the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator), or mixed numbers (a whole number combined with a proper fraction).
