How to Wake Up / Turn On your Laptop Computer When Opening Lid on Windows

To ensure your computer wakes up when you open the lid, you may need to configure power settings. Below are steps for different Windows versions:

Windows 10

  1. Open Settings by pressing Win + I.
  2. Go to System > Power & Sleep.
  3. Click on Additional power settings under the Related settings section.
  4. In the Power Options window, click on Choose what closing the lid does from the left pane.
  5. In the When I close the lid section, select Do nothing for both On battery and Plugged in.
  6. Click Save changes to apply the settings.

Windows 11
